PEARLS OF WISDOM FROM NOSTRADAMUS
by Robert Tippett
In Salon, France Nostradamus wrote the document named The Prophecies (1555). In the preface to that work Nostradamus told of encountering the spirit of Jesus Christ, and Nostradamus named Jesus Christ as the true author of the enigmatic verses (called quatrains) that have puzzled us for over 450 years. The reason for this mysterious shroud surrounding The Prophecies is explained by Nostradamus in the preface, where he quoted Jesus Christ, as written in the Scriptures:
Give not that which is holy unto dogs, and Cast not your pearls before swine, Lest they trample them underfoot and turn and rend you.
The purpose of that quote is to tell several things about The Prophecies. First, it says that The Prophecies is truly a holy document, as it would be, coming from Jesus Christ. This is further supported by the definition of "prophecy," which means something coming from divine inspiration. Jesus Christ is divine, as the Son of God. Second, it says that this holy document must not be made clear, or made understandable by the "dogs" and "swine" of the world, because these people of animal nature are incapable of understanding; further, their natural instinct is to destroy that which it does not understand. This statement is symbolic of the leaders of the world, past and present, whose fears of losing their power would have caused The Prophecies to be destroyed, if they had known the holy message that it contained.
